Work Experience

Brief work history and summary for experience I have in web development

In the summer of 2012, I had the opportunity to be a Java Development intern for the Information and Communications Systems department for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While there, I was able to work on a web app with an MVC framework. I was able to work on the front end of the web app in HTML, CSS and JavaScript, as well as on the backside on the Java based controller. The experience was great, and I learned a lot in those four months as an intern.

After the internship, I moved back to Logan and got a job on the Programming and Design team for the IT Department at Utah State. I have had the opportunity to work with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, as well as the Django framework and Python. The experience I gained in these areas has been great. I learned a lot while on the PAD Team, and it will help me throughout my career.

In February of 2014, I started a new job with a startup company called 7 Oaks. A manager from my internship with the LDS Church and his friend started the business and got a contract with Zerorez, a national carpet cleaning company, to build the web app they need to book jobs and manage their business. I am learning more about Spring MVC apps, and also am learning AngularJS for the front end.

In June of 2014, I left 7 Oaks and started working at Overstock.com. I was hired as a front end web developer. My responsibilities are mainly helping to maintain the production website. Different promotions are going on daily, and I help to put that content on the production site. I also spend time working with different front end technologies to strengthen those skills as well.

At the end of August 2014 I left Overstock and started at Axis41. Axis41 ended up being a better fit for me and the goals I had for my future. I have spent most of my time on front end development at Axis41, while also working with WordPress back ends a bit as well. I've been able to assist on several projects, and enjoy the work I'm doing here.

In October of 2015, I left Axis41 for a startup health insurance company, HSA Health Plan. I'm now on a team of 5 developers, and we have a lot of stuff we work on. We have a public facing site that anyone can reach, as well as a member portal that subscribers can use to view information about their account. In the works is an administrative internal site for customer service and other employees to use. Anyways, there is a lot of work here, and the AngularJS and Angular (depending on the project) is exactly what I was looking for.
